This was my first large (TV) purchase online. Everything went smoothly until... the delivery. I monitored the tracking # to see it's progression. Amazon shipped out next day as promised, great! 5 days later it was at the shipping hub 20 miles from where I live. Days went by, shipper never called to schedule delivery. I call Amazon to connect me with shipper, then I still had to call shipper back directly. TV sat in shipper's warehouse for 7 days! Not acceptable. Would have paid extra for shipping if I had known.Carton was damaged also, but luckily contents appears ok .Great TV.... Samsung LN37A550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Pros: Very good HD picture, easy to set up. Non-HD channels are satisfactory, but not outstanding.
Cons: Tinny sound from speakers on the back of the unit that can be improved somewhat through menu adjustments. External speakers a must if sound is extremely important to you. Best viewed close to head on, as colors fade at sharper angles.
Overall: Very satisfied. Looks great with Blu-ray. Buy Samsung LN37A550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV!

Sharp Aquos LC37D64U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I was so excited to get my new TV. Had everything setup. Set the TV to scan for all available channels. The process of removing channels was horrible. Unlike Sony where you just click add/delete in this Sharp TV you have to go through the menu and delete each channel. Hate it. Then I get to a few channels where I can see the picture perfectly, but I can't hear anything. That's strange because all the other brand TV at home can get those channels with sound perfectly even Vizio the brand I hate with its poor quality picture and a control that only works if you angle it towards the far right. What gives. Sharp is suppose to be a better brand. They need to work on their digital tuner especially the sound. I contacted Sharp, but have not heard back from them yet.

Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ800U 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

Though I originally wanted the 42" model of the 800 series as it was going in a room that wasn't very large; the 46" was $300 cheaper!? It arrived before the estimated delivery date but when Pilot shipping called to set up a time for delivery I was told that they couldn't do the "white glove service" as there was only one guy available to make the delivery. Consequently I helped the guy take it off the truck and carry it in the house (not an easy task on my part as I am recovering from a back injury). That being said, the delivery person was very cordial and did help me to unpack it and set it up on the stand.

Onto the TV...I had been researching flat panels for about the last 3 years in Consumer Reports and online and had pretty much decided on a plasma since I watch so many DVDs from the library and wanted the best possible picture for movies. I further narrowed it to Panasonic based on past performance and the brand reputation for reliability. I wasn't dissappointed in the TH-46PZ800U; the picture is very realistic and the THX setting is a great overall calibration for various sources, but is especially appealling for watching movies. Unlike the sometimes overly bright LCD screens, the picture is far more natural. There are still many settings I'd like to experiment with, but out of the box and set to THX is a great place to start. It does have a bit of glare on the glass screen so I would not recommend it for very bright rooms.
