I searched for TVs all around Christmas time to see what TV would a) have a good price b) be the right size and c) have all of the features I want. After doing a lot of research and reading lots of reviews online (including watching Cnet videos) I decided on this TV. Now you might be wondering exactly why I decided on this TV:

1) Great size (46" is perfect! I'm glad I didn't go lower or higher because lower would have been a wee bit too small and my space wouldn't be able to handle larger)
2) 1080P! (around black friday and christmas time I read lots of things that said 1080p wasn't worth it when 720p was getting so low priced, I'm glad I trusted the things that said 1080p rocks instead ^_^)
3) 120HZ (I love action movies and knew that this was a must have feature for me)
4) Good on-board sound (I considered getting a sound system but decided against it... it would require setup and tweaking time + take up space, luckily this TV has fantastic sound~)
5) Good price range (ok, it's not the cheapest TV you can get at this size with the features I mentioned above.. but it had great reviews, people rarely had bad things to say about it, and I kept on finding myself back in front of it when I went to Fry's to view TVs)
6) Easiest to view in person - I was always planning to buy it on Amazon but since a TV is such a bit investment I wanted to find one I could also view in person. Luckily Fry's had the TV, Circuit City did (well, before they went bankrupt), and I even have a Sony store near me.
7) It looks nice - I ended up with the black model when I was originally considering the silver/chrome one (it was the only one amazon had at the time I first started looking) - it's nice and sleek, I keep my room dark so I don't see bright spots on it, and it's really easy to forget the borders are even there. My other choice had been the Samsung with the touch of red but I just couldn't stand that extra little feature - it was too distracting and sleek is much nicer.

The only thing I would ever say was a downside to this TV are the CC. Not necessarily because of how they are but just the fact that there is only one CC option - but it seems like multiple CC options might have gone away with CRTs, so no biggie. The CCs are still very legible and are easy to forget about.

One last word to the wise - regular def TV does not look great on this thing unless you tell it not to stretch it. Even if you don't stretch it (do regular 4:3 ratio) it still doesn't look fantastic but I knew when I was buying it that getting channels in HD would be an important thing to do in the future.

So really even though CC and regular def viewing are somewhat downsides this TV is so fantastic and it's so easy to forget about those two little things when watching something that I still think it deserves 5 stars.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Portable LCD TV

The picture is one of the best I have ever seen. It is crisp, clean, clear, and the colors are true. I have it hooked to cable. It programs itself with the push of one button and I love the remote. The on/off switch is somewhat out of the way on the side. Although it has not been needed for use during a hurricane, it claims the rechargeable battery inside will power the TV for hours once fully charged. It is HD which eliminates the need for a converter box, comes with its own screw-on antenna, car cord, and AC cord. There are inputs for attaching a DVD player or VCR, and an output for headphones. Currently, it is used almost daily on the bathroom vanity for catching the news, weather, and traffic while getting ready for work in the morning. I bought this TV due to owning an earlier model Haier 7" LCD color set which is also excellent and has not given me any trouble. I researched LCD TVs for quite a while before finally splurging on this one. I got it for a really good price, but I was concerned about what type of panel I would get. I had read reviews about how crummy "A" and "C" panels are. Well, I checked first thing and I got a "C" panel. However, I've been using the TV for about a month and it's great! I don't have HD programming, and SD isn't the greatest, but the picture with blu-ray is awesome! It's true the speakers aren't the best and are a little hollow or tinny sounding, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. I am in seventh heaven watching my movies and enjoying HD TV. Amazon delivered the TV in three days, set it up, and I was up and running in no time.

I purchased the Samsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color on March 2, 2009 and got it today March 5, 2009. I guess it helps to live close to the Amazon.com warehouse. The "Enhanced Delivery" was exactly as described. I did have to help the driver carry it into the house, but I expected that. The delivery guy unpacked it, removed all the plastic, and hooked it up. He didn't ask me to sign for until he made sure it worked fine. This was the "free shipping". I must admit that I was a little nervous about purchasing this TV online, but Amazon has put those fears to rest. And to top it all off I got it for $100.00 less than Newegg.com. "Good job Amazon. As for the TV, well, it is simply amazing! The "RED Touch of Color" is very subtle and elegant. But what is really cool is the TV itself when you have an HD signal. It can be summed up in one word WOW! Samsung has hit a home run with this TV. My advice to you is quit shopping around and just buys this TV, you will not be sorry.
I will definitely buy from Amazon.com again and I would buy another Samsung TV too.

Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Ordered the TV a few weeks back - the shipping company wrote down my phone number incorrectly and so shipping was delayed about a week. I finally called to setup a delivery time. The guys delivered it the next day, carried the TV around my house to the walkout basement for us - pretty nice of them...
The TV is light for how big it is, I set it up myself, plugged it in with the HDMI cable ($4 on Amazon - just as good as the more expensive cables) and it was ready to go! Yes - you turn it on, it takes 10 - 20 seconds before the picture comes up, but who cares? If you need to watch TV that badly, you may have other issues? The picture is great - well worth the money - I usually get buyer's remorse after purchases like this, but I am doing well! - well worth the $$$
