Samsung LN40A450 40-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

I had purchased this TV in October of '08 from another vendor. I was researching 720p sets for about month before I purchased. I had planned on using my media center PC with it. I really didn't want a 1080p set because the only true 1080p source these days is blu-ray, which I had no intention of investing in. I was impressed with all aspects of the set since I bought it. Ghosting was present sometimes. I found it really depends on the source of the content that produces more or less ghosting. Yes there are the 120hz HDTVs out there, but from what I have seen they can't get rid of all the ghosting. 120hz sets double the frame rate of content that isn't supposed to be run at such a high frame rate. The result is weird and unnatural looking motion in movies that are only supposed to be running at 24 frames per second, not 120. Ghosting and motion blur are an inherent limitation in LCD technology, LCD owners will have to accept this. I was looking into plasmas to, but all the 720p plasmas I found seemed to have a native resolution of 1024x768, which is not a wide screen resolution. In addition, plasmas are subject to burn-in on the screens, something I didn't wanna have to deal with. Plasma sets are being phased out pretty fast anyway. So I chose this TV, it wasn't too big, wasn't too small, and had everything I required.

Out of the Box, it showed impressive HD picture with off-air HD channels. The setup with auto-program was very easy and straight forward. SD content is very watchable. Hooking my media center PC up to the VGA connection produced a flawless picture. The built-in speakers produced a satisfying full sound. The unit seemed like the perfect 720p set, until I tried to use more than one HDMI device. Apparently, for some very odd reason, only 1 out of the 3 HDMI inputs will utilize the TV's native resolution of 1360x768. As many people know, if you are not running an LCD display at its native resolution, you are not getting its full potential in picture quality and sharpness. The other 2 HDMI inputs default to a resolution of 1280x720, which because its not the native res of the TV, looks blocky and slightly out of focus. So for me, these other 2 HDMI inputs are basically useless. I am going to have to buy an HDMI hub now to accommodate my multiple HDMI devices so they can all utilize the TV's native resolution. If I had known about this flaw, I would have never purchased it. Samsung, if you are listening, is there a purpose behind this design flaw? Buy Samsung LN40A450 40-Inch 720p LCD HDTV!

Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65835 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Glossy Black)

At low to mid volumes, the speakers buzz/vibrate. Mitsubishi is unable to do something about it after 3 months and they do not stand behind their warranty policy. Buy it only if you can accept it "as is" and deal with the service issues out of pocket. Absolutely astonishing they can get away with what they do.Buy Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65835 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Glossy Black)!

LG 42LBX - 42" LCD TV - 120Hz - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV 1080p - glossy black

We purchased this tv to go into our loft. I researched all the brands from toshiba, vizio, samsung etc. When I found this tv for $999 and read the reviews and specs I knew this was the one. Crystal clear picture with HD. The 120HZ has been great watching football. I can't stand watching the older tubed 32" samsung downstairs anymore. It does not even compare. I would recommend this tv at the $999.00 price. We are very happy with our purchase.Buy LG 42LBX - 42" LCD TV - 120Hz - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV 1080p - glossy black!

Magnavox 32MD357B 32-Inch LCD HDTV with Built In DVD Player

We bought this model...twice. The problem is the Dvd player. On the first one the problems started after a couple of movies, the Dvd player would just pause, no sound, the picture would be stuck on the screen and it took a few minutes of messing with the remote to get it to play again. This happened every few minutes after awhile, so it got exchanged. I was willing to give Magnavox the benefit of the doubt and try a new player. Less than thirty minutes into the first movie with the new machine the same problem started again. Shall I try a third unit? No, probably not. Toshiba 46RV525U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I purchased this set on sale at Sears and they even price matched it to the price that CompUSA was selling it at. I got a great deal on it. I took it home hooked it all up and ran into trouble right away with my HD Cable box. I live in the Tampa, Florida area and have Brighthouse networks cable. They use a Scientific Atlanta Exploreer 8300HDC HD DVR box. I could operate the cable box with the cable company remote with no problem. As soon as I would turn on the Toshiba LCD, the remote would no longer work. Turn the TV off and the remote worked just fine. I went through 3 different cable boxes with Brighthouse networks. I then had a Sears repair tech come out to check the TV and make sure nothing was wrong with it. Upon inspection he decided to call Toshiba directly and see what was going on. Toshiba admitted to having a problem with this model of cable box and they did not know what was causing the interference at this time. Their recommendation was to check with Brighthouse to see if they had a different brand of cable box. If they did not, then they (Toshiba) recommended returning the TV for a brand other than Toshiba.

So Brighthouse did not have a different brand which led to me returning the TV. I did this with great hesitation as the Toshiba had an excellent picture and sound. I really loved the TV and the features it had. I just wish it would have worked with my cable box.

I returned the TV with no problem and purchased a Sharp Aquos LC-46D65U. I set that TV up with no problem and there are no interference issues.

So like I said in the title, awesome TV but can be deadly to your cable box.Buy Toshiba 46RV525U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV!
