Toshiba 27AF45 27" Flat Screen TV (Silver)

I shlepped this thing home and upon plugging it in found that there were large purple splotches in the corners and center of the screen which get worse and the unit warms. I know this has to do with the alignment of the beam, maybe a magnet nearby, whatever, but dunno what to do with it. Called Toshiba and was told it is my own tough luck. So I've owned it for about 2 years now. he purple splotches are annoying, but otherwise its a nice TV. Reading through the reviews here I see that essentially buying them is a crapshoot. They're either really nice or real crap. And the likelihood of getting a lemon seems around 40% which isn't too good. Look, if you're looking for a TV, look for something you're less likely to have come out a piece of rubbish. Or better yet- just get a new HDTV. Panasonic PT-56LCX70 56-Inch 720p LIFI HDTV

Wow, The picture on this set blows away DLP sets! No color wheel to breakdown or add rainbow artifacts, and the light source will last much longer than other types. The three LCD panels have better contrast than DLP sets, and are much larger, there by reducing the obvious pixels that our DLP had. Panasonic has a winner here, too bad that rear projection TVs are going away, they are much less costly than Plasma or other direct view tvs. We don't mind that it won't wall hang, the set is attractive and has a small foot print anyway. What a horrible piece of garbage. 4 months installed and the screen does not work. The radio and clock work, but from all the reviews i have seen, i am not the only one suffering the GPX curse.

Samsung LN40A330 40-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

This TV is very nice: good picture, easy setup. The delivery was very poor. It was much more challenging to arrange a delivery time as the delivery company was pretty dense. The TV was delivered on a large pallet and the delivery person refused to even remove the box from the pallet for my wife so that the TV could be moved indoors. I purchase this as my first big screen ,and after looking @ hdtv i notice the cost of this tv is by far the best in price and quality..Everytime i watch movies on this tv i'm more impressed with each viewing..to anyone thinking of buying a big screen; seriously consider this one @ the top of your list..******Buy Toshiba 50A61 50-Inch Projection TV!
