Philips 47PFL5603D/27 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Don't put any stock in the specs. First, the TV's slideshow feature DOES NOT support .alb files, even though it clearly states so in every spec sheet I have ever read, and it says explicitly so in the manual. The email and telephone customer support is terrible - they have no idea what you are talking about when you call. The email support does not allow you to respond to answers they give you (sent from an unattended email address). Finally, if you want to use this TV to do business presentations or show slideshows from a USB camera, drive, or flash device, you CANNOT SORT THE IMAGES. The TV does not sort by name, number, date, or anything that makes logical sense.

I happen to have discovered how the sorting is done, and was able to fix the issue myself with a third-party app that runs on Windows (it's easier in Linux). However, I am not giving up the secret because Philips does not deserve this service from me. The infuriated me so badly, I will never buy another Philips product.

Otherwise, the TV has mediocre performance, poor menus, and a bad remote.

Don't listen to all of the other reviews that say good connectivity. An LCD without PC input (except HDMI)?! What?! If it had PC input I wouldn't care so much about the USB stuff, but I can't do a presentation on this without going out and buying an HDMI capable laptop. (Don't tell me about S-Video - the picture is AWFUL on this TV).

Toshiba 32AV500U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Initially the Toshiba 32AV500U performed well. It has a good, clear picture and a fair quantity of ways to connect it including two HDMI ports. However, about three months after the purchase the picture would suddenly just go black. A call to Toshiba found me connected to a factory authorized service center who took the tv and ordered a circuit panel. The day the tv was brought back it failed the second time I turned it on. The repair shop was informed that Toshiba was going to replace the tv. Upon my phone call to verify this Toshiba Service said that "no, they were not going to replace the tv." So, I was left with a still new but broken tv that had sound but often no picture. The endeavor to repair this has been going on since November of 2008 with no end in sight. Now there is an lcd panel on order but has not yet arrived and after calling Toshiba once again, all they will say is that it is scheduled to be shipped as soon as possible. I asked what that meant and they had no idea! So, we wait and wait and wait some more. Today (February 16, 2009) the service center called and said that Toshiba was going to replace the tv because the lcd panel is on back order. I called Toshiba Customer "Service" to verify this and they said the plan was to replace the tv; possibly with a refurbished one. After another phone call to Toshiba Customer Service and explaining in no uncertain terms that I would not accept a "refurb" tv; two days later I was notified that my 32AV500U would be replaced with a new 32AV502U which was delivered to my house on 02/25/2009. The driver and I made the exchange and so far, the upgraded Toshiba has worked very well. I only hope that continues as the warranty on the new tv is only until the 1 year warranty on the original tv is over which is April of 2009.Buy Toshiba 32AV500U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV!

Sony KD32FS170 32-Inch Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan Digital Television

I actually purchased a new mid-line LCD and promptly returned it due to poor picture quality on any source other than HD. To me, LCDs and Plasmas are still many years away from perfection. I don't understand why all of the manufacturers have discontinued their CRT models as this is a proven technology. Sure this is a heavy TV and doesn't have that slick flat panel look, but what this sets lacks in design it quickly makes up in other areas. The picture quality beats plasma and LCD hands down for digital TV channels, standard DVDs, video games, and video cameras. You can find one of these at one of the b-m stores for dirt cheap. That's where I saw mine sitting on the shelf upon returning the LCD. Bottom line - if you're looking for a quality set with excellent picture, look no further than this Sony Wega. Coby TF-DVD1591 15-Inch LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player and Digital Tuner

I've received two of these now and the DVD Player has not worked in either one. The first one just clicked. The second one just clicked and then spit the DVD out saying no disc. I also received a Coby MP3 player that wouldn't even turn on. Polaroid 19" LCD Television - TLA-01911C

dont want to even give it a star but maybe i should given that my $1000 flat screen polaroid 40" lcd lasted a grand total of 23 months before going kaput. i must have gotten a "good" one judging from all the reviews ive read from multiple sites. shame on polaroid! i gave them a chance and now I am paying for their faulty design and virtually nonexistent customer service. everyone who is demanding a recall on these products is absolutely right.
