Toshiba REGZA 26LV47 26-Inch LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player


I purchased this unti from Costco.com. When I first got this unit in February 2008, shortly afterwards the power wouldn't turn on and the DVD players' yellow light kept flashing. The Toshiba warranty service center took it to the repair shop and I had to wait for 1 month to get it back. They had to upgrade the firmware to make it work. The TV broke again the 2nd time in October 2008 with the same problem and the Toshiba warranty repair center took it to the shop on Nov. 6 (they only pick up/deliver the unit once a week on Thursdays) and they told me this time they have to replace a board and the parts won't be in until Nov. 24. They cannot repair it until they receive the parts. So I am still waiting here to get my TV back.

My boyfriend and I called Toshiba customer service to see what options were available to exchange this "defective" unit, since it had broken with the same issue twice, we felt that the unit itself was defective, and therefore should be replaced not just repaired. The Toshiba service center would not do that, nor add an additional 1 year warranty to the unit as requested. The only compromise they would do is to extend the warranty for the duration of the repairs while the set was out of our hands. What if the unit breaks again the 3rd time with the same issue beyond the warranty period? Toshiba customer service told us that they don't even offer extended warranty for purchase. So if the unit broke again beyond the warranty period then I am out of luck. We're very disappointed on the Toshiba warranty policy.Buy Toshiba REGZA 26LV47 26-Inch LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player!
