Got the television and on hooking it up noticed a dark grey vertical line about 1 cm wide in the middle of the picture. Called toshiba, the rep could not resove it over the phone. I asked for a new nondefective replacement. Toshiba refused and said my only recourse was to have it repaired under warranty by our local Toshiba repair facility. They repaired it and the picture and sound are now fine. How long it will last, time will tell. The repair shop said the "panel" was bad and commented how "cheaply" the TV was built. I recently purchased another name brand of tv and had to return it. I purchased this name brand tv on line. The reviews were great and the price even greater. After one week of fiddling around with this thing, I returned it and knew I had to get a Sony Bravia. I did and am I glad. I've only had the Sony for one day so far and it's great. Sharp Aquos LC52D64U 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I was so excited to get my new TV. Had everything setup. Set the TV to scan for all available channels. The process of removing channels was horrible. Unlike Sony where you just click add/delete in this Sharp TV you have to go through the menu and delete each channel. Hate it. Then I get to a few channels where I can see the picture perfectly, but I can't hear anything. That's strange because all the other brand TV at home can get those channels with sound perfectly even Vizio the brand I hate with its poor quality picture and a control that only works if you angle it towards the far right. What gives. Sharp is suppose to be a better brand. They need to work on their digital tuner especially the sound. I contact Sharp but have not heard back from them yet.

LG 47LG70 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Not only does this unit have a great picture, it is the best if you are trying to beat glare. I was in Best Buy looking up at the Samsungs that get the best reviews and was disappointed by the store lights reflecting on the screen, a big deal as my living room gets lots of sun. By accident I see this LG next to the Samsung and it is terriffic - NO GLARE AND A GREAT PICTURE.

Coupled with the LG BlueRay (has NETFLIX), Polk RM 6750 speakers (a great deal if you can still find them) and an HK AVR 354 receiver (IPOD dock included, 1080p upscaling, beautiful GUI, best looking box and HK sound) I have a $2,250 system that provides a wonderful audio/visual experience at a fraction of the price I thought I would have to pay. I am only 1 month in and my appreciation builds as I learn to use the setup.

I purchased the LG 42", 1080p, 120Hz, TV locally in January and hooked it up myself. The setup was easy and the picture quality was average to poor due to my having the standard Direct-TV service. I ordered the Direct TV HD upgrade receiver and their technicion installed it two days after I ordered and was he was very good/knowledgeable. The HD channels on my new LG looked perfect in color and clarity. This is the way TV should be. One problem with Direct TV in Central Virginia is they do not give you the local channels in HD. So after all my efforts, I had to watch this years Superbowl on Fox in standard digital and the picture was poor. I contacted Direct TV and they said the local channels in my area were not available in HD even thought we can see the HD symbol on all of them. I contacted the local channels and they said Direct TV refuses to connect to their HD signal. This must be some kind of finacial decision where Direct TV deems our market not worthy of the investment but they claim that 88% of their customers get local channels in HD. I asked Direct TV why we were being charged the same as their customers getting local HD when we did not. They did not reply. The solution here is to buy an outdoor HDTV antenna. I just installed mine this weekend and I now get all local channels in HD along with 20 other "FREE" channels. The cable and satelite companies are gouging us with high prices and package deals that encourage you to spend more. If our TV stations continue to add HD free service, the cable/satelite companies may find themselve without customers. Samsung PN50A760 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with Red Touch of Color

This was a great experience all around. Not only does the 50" Samsung plasma have a beautiful picture, it also has enough inputs for a number of peripherals, ie, Wii, karaoke, BluRay, DVR, and older DVD/VCR player. I had a hard time locating this particular model but Amazon had one via VANN's. My only complaint is that none of the TVs I looked at mentioned that you need extra cables to connect the various peripherals. This LCD is fabulous...once I adjusted the color slightly and figured out how to work the remote for favorite channels it was awesome. The picture is extremely clear, the sound is amazing, and it looks so much cooler than the square-edged LCD's that everyone else carries. JVC truely is the leader once again...first the AUDIO, now in VIDEO.
