I bought this TV about 3 years ago is its worked flawlessly. However, I just read in the tech specs that the tuner is an NTSC tuner which means its an analog TV - and wont work when the cable systems go digital on Feb 17 - unless you have a converter. Just an FYI - good luck!

The built-in speakers are below the screen -- bad for stereo separation, perhaps, but ideal for people like us who want to upgrade from a 20- or 22-inch analog TV that will still fit inside entertainment centers designed for old-style TVs. This Envision 26-inch model incorporates dual tuners for both standard and digital broadcast TV, and it can tune non-Pay-Per-View cable channels without having to use a set-top box. Both tuners offer good sensitivity for those relying on off-the-air signals for television reception, but I'd recommend using a good roof- or attic-mounted antenna, plus a signal amplifier, for best results.

Picture sharpness and color a terrific for an HDTV at this price. This is a 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen monitor displaying 720p, which is standard in any HDTV measuring under 42 inches. The straightforward menu makes it a breeze to adjust contrast, brightness, tint, color and backlight level to your preferences.

Still, it's pretty basic. There are single inputs for HDMI sources, composite video and S-video, but precious few audio/video outputs of any kind. The jack panel also includes input/outputs for using the set as a VGA PC monitor, which is to be expected given that computer monitors were Envision/AOC's original product line.

Likewise, the remote control is a simple, dark gray hand-held unit, but its layout makes it pretty easy to use. While it lacks a keypad backlight, the remote neither looks nor feels cheap. The owner's manual is pretty Spartan, and it can seem fairly obscure at times, possibly because something got lost in the translation from Chinese to English. (A paragraph near the end of the English section encouraging owners to recycle the set at the end of its useful life carries the title, "End of Life Directives." Hmm.) Even so, it's straightforward enough that anyone who's hooked up cable, VCRs or DVD players to standard-def sets in the past won't have a problem setting up this TV.

In short, keep looking if you want all the bells and whistles. You won't find them here. But this set could be just right for those who want decent HDTV that's simple to operate and comes at an absolutely terrific price. Philips 19PFL5422D 19-Inch LCD HDTV

After owning this Philips LCD TV for just over 12 months it is virtually useless. Problems with it started after about 8 months of use, when the sound would shut off altogether or emit an ear-piercing noise. Shutting it off and turning it back on would solve the problem at the beginning, but it has increasingly become worse to the point where the sound is lost after a few minutes no matter how many times the TV is shut down and turned back on again, or how long it has been allowed to warm up. Another problem is that it recycles when first turned on, shutting itself off and then restarting repeatedly.

Attempts to contact Philips have gone unanswered. I sincerely regret having purchased this TV and highly recommend that others steer clear of it!

The TV is good until the lamp breaks. For me this has happened three times so far, every 14 months in average. The worst is now I just bought the third lamp, paid $200, and the thing (I can't call it a TV) doesn't work. Magnavox 19MF337B 19-Inch LCD HDTV

I bought the Magnavox 19MF337B TV. While the picture quality is good, the unit went bad in 11 months of normal use. It makes a loud popping noise and then shuts down completely. Apparently there are capacitors that go bad in this model, and it dies. I have read the same complaint many places on the web about this model. Westinghouse LTV32W3 32-Inch LCD HDTV

Like a lot of people I've been reading about, I started having problems with my Westinghouse LCD television only a few months after purchasing it. Unfortunately, my problems are sporadic and, not noticing them when viewing cable television, I assumed that this problem was caused by the other input source I used on it (a video game console). I had that unit serviced twice, and by the time I realized that the problem was with the television and not the input source, the unit was out of warranty by about 3 months. Despite having documentation to show that my problems began only a few months after buying their product, their customer disservice department basically told me I was up poop creek. I guess it was crazy of me to expect a $600 television to work properly for a whole year and a half. Thanks for nothing, Westinghouse! Next time, I'll go with Toshiba or Samsung, and I would encourage anyone else to do the same.

Lots of inputs, is still semi-functional a whole 15 months after purchase.

Discolored static on areas of uniform color (esp. white and red), framerate drops (bad for gaming), customer service is unresponsive and will allegedly make you pay out of your own pocket for any service they grudgingly provide, other customers have reported sets going dead entirely. I search through Amazon for a good 26 in lcd tv and love the reviews for this Initial lcd tv. Unlike the last one one I purchase(32 in) I downsized and decided to go for a dvd combo. The TV was received in good shape and was easy to put together but hooking it up not only did a HDMI but a component hookup as well. the DVD player was good, the remote was fair but after a few days I could not turn the tv on. The red light was in standby mode. I change the remote batteries three time but when I push the on/off switch on the side of the tv it didnot turn it on. turn it off but not on. my daughter turned it on but when I tried to do it the set would not turn on. so I am sending it back today. This was given to me as a Christmas gift in 2007, bought from Walmart ($700), less than 6 months, I noticed distortion of the picture in upper left hand corner. So, I went on the web looking for causes/problems. Did I ever get a wake up. Warranty not covering, I thought I will make the best of it, my problem was minor compared to others. Well today, turned tv on, heck of a racket after a few minutes, picture is all distorted and tv shuts off. Completely waste of money, Amazon take note of this!!!

Impressive picture quality in HD. Not so hot for non-HD signals - my 15 yr old sony crt looks better.
Also, it's slow to switch between signal inputs.
Minor gripes, I'd still probably give it 4 stars, except for the quality issues below.
First we had the same buzzing power supply that everyone else had. Now, it has completely died. I've had it 1yr and 2wks. When you turn it on, the screen flashes for a moment and goes black. Samsung says they should be able to extend the warrenty for 1 month to get it repaired. Hoping a tech can come by soon...
I was planning on this tv lasting 10yrs! At this rate, it won't make it 2... and i doubt my next tv will be a samsung...

I got mine about 6 months ago after much comparison shopping.The cabinet is slim but,put together like a tank.You can feel the quality and admire the beauty of the cabinet while setting up.I have dish network hd and cannot believe the depth and clarity of the picture on this LG set. The unit looks like a fine piece of piano furniture in my tv room.The set-up is a snap with hdmi or analog cables and pretty much is ready to run right out of the huge box.The remote is set up decently however,with all the components I chose the logitec 880 remote to simlify things.Whether its satalite,dvd,dvr,blue-ray.the pictue looks almost 3-d. My friends all have big screen,most of them dlp and they always come to my house to watch the big game or movie. Toshiba REGZA Cinema Series 52XF550U 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

I have to echo what's already been said here; the gloss of the screen is less than you'd find on a plasma but a little more than on the matte LCD's, though the only LCD sets that I think are actually comparable to this one are the higher-end Samsung and Sony panels, and they both have glossier screens than this Toshiba.

Black levels are stunning, especially for an LCD. Hi-definition sources such as Blu-ray discs are absolutely amazing on this set, the image has that 3D feel to it and the colors definitely pop, though you'll need to fix the settings to get things accurate and to make movies, especially hi-def movies, really shine.

Upscaled DVD from my PS3 looks mostly superb, though discs with poor source transfers can't be helped all that much.

Games from the PS3 look amazing as well, it's a huge upgrade from my old Sony 720p RPTV (LCoS), a KDF-46E2000, which was a damn nice set in its own right. The images, games and films are just a great deal sharper and have more of a life-like feel to them...the extra 6" of diagonal screen size doesn't hurt either.

My mother purchased this television over 3 years ago. She's retired so it's running about 6 hours a day. Still using the original bulb. HD programing and BR discs look great. SD programing is ok. While researching this television, I read about users having problems with frequent bulb replacement. These bulbs are a "metal halide" type, which is why they cost $175 to replace. After reading some electronic forums about these bulbs, I found that one reason for the early bulb failure MAY be powering the tv on and off multiple times a day. For this reason I told my mother once she turned her tv on, not to turn it off until she went to bed. It's big, bright, fast, beautiful and did I mention it's big? I mean two side-by-side magnified A4 documents big. The $1100 price is great too compared to other 30" models.

The reason why this monitor is considered obsolete by Dell is the complaints from videophiles about its lack of connectivity options. Specifically, dual-link DVI is the only way in. So, if you are planning on connecting game machines or BlueRay drives or HD cable boxes via HDMI, you are out of luck. But, why would you want to do that? Even full HD video only goes up to 1920x1080. This monitor does 2560x1600. It makes a lot more sense to pay $800 for a 42" 1080p LCD TV, which is bigger and better for viewing video anyway. This is an ultra-high-resolution monitor, pure and simple, and I love it for doing a good job there.

As the channel runs low on stock of this monitor, the Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor becomes a better value. The latter, however, does not employ the S-IPS panel from LG, which is generally considered the best and most expensive LCD technology as of 2008. This is another reason why some 30" monitors are still a good buy in my mind even though 24" models are selling for under $300 nowadays. Those cheap monitors use TN panels, with poor color, contrast and viewing angles. Smaller S-IPS monitors (e.g. HP LP2475W 24in LCD Monitor 1920X1200 and Planar PX2611W 26-Inch Widescreen Digital/Analog with Height Adjust Stand (Black)) still cost $600+ and are becoming scarcer by the day due to the competition from its cheaper cousins. Westinghouse TX-47F430S 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

DO NOT! REPEAT; DO NOT BUY THIS TV!! I own several large screen LCD TVs all within the $1500 - $1800 range. This TV is no comparison to their picture quality or any other performance category. I bought this TV because of the low price and placed it in a room that is seldom used for TV viewing so high picture quality was not the objective. However, any TV should at least be reliable regardless of price. After 4 months of very infrequent use, the TV simply would no longer turn on. Although frustrating, matters became horrible when dealing and negotiating with the Westinghouse Contact Center for repair services. Without going into the ugly details, all I can say is that it took me THREE MONTHS to finally get Westinghouse to stand behind their product. Ultimately I substituted the TV during this ordeal and realized that I should have made the alternative competitive purchase (only for $180 more) in the first place. I can't tell you how upseting it is/was to learn later that almost everybody had the same problem, in otherwords a manufactured defect associated with the powersave mode. The bottomline is that this is a "low budget" TV; "Low Quality" Picture; and "Low Quality" Service. There are too many good LCD TV alternatives in this price range and for a little more money, substantially better products in all measureable categories. If the picture quality or anything else were better, I would at least say that it might be worth the try as an entry level LCD TV set. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. We have a toddler who is autistic and his biggest compulsion is to PRESS BUTTONS!! We purchased this TV online and couldn't be happier with how it turned out! The buttons for changing channels/volume are hidden on the top of the televsion! Very cool. I'd say the clarity of this television would rate a 4 on a scale of 5. Purchased this little Zenith for my dad since he was still looking for a TV with the Zenith name. LG makes the line now, but still the same great Zenith picture quality. Dad loves it, thinking about getting one for myself. Great connectivity, it has every input you'd ever want, computer, HDTV, composite, RGB, and over the air analog and digital tuner.

I bought this TV/DVD combo exactly 1 year ago to use in my bedroom. It was a fairly easy set-up and the picture quality was fine. However, this TV has a very annoying feature: EVERY time you change the channel, a pop-up menu shows up, and there is NO way to get rid of this. (I checked the Magnavox website to make sure.)

About a week or so ago, the TV started acting up. Right after turning it on, it would make a loud blaring noise, sort of like the severe weather alert on TV stations - but louder - and then shut off. Usually the picture quality went bad, too. Then the TV would turn itself back on.

Over the past week, it has gone through this shut off-come on cycle more and more, sometimes taking about 5 cycles before it would stay on.

Philips 42PFL7403D/F7 42-Inch 1920 x 1080p LCD HDTV (Black)

I did not buy this product from Amazon, but from Sam's Club during Black Friday. They had it for sale at 799.00. I looked at all 42" LCD TVs they had for sale from all the big stores and found this one which was cheap at the time. I figured you can't go wrong with a Phillips and the pricing was at least $100 less than the any other model except they did have a JVC for the same price. I decided to go with the Phillips because of better past experiences with Phillip products. I do not regret it one bit. The picture is very clear when watching Blu-ray. My ps3 games also look awesome. The best thing is that I have a 5.1 logitech surround sound system from my pc which only has 70 Watts and cost me $50, but when I connected it to my TV, my movies come to life! I can make my two-story house rumble and I don't even need to turn it all the way up. When I have friends over, they think I have an expensive surround sound system and I just laugh. Olevia 327V 27-Inch LCD HD Ready Monitor

I spent under $400 on this over a year ago. It was a "little TV" to watch while on the bike or rowing machine.
- Plugged into the TiVo the lack of tuner was no problem!

Recently my main TV has died, so this little guy has been promoted to the front-room. It's doing pretty well too.
- The single component input is a nuisance. I had to dig up a component switchbox, so either the DVR or XBOX can feed it.

Philips 47PFL5603D/27 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Don't put any stock in the specs. First, the TV's slideshow feature DOES NOT support .alb files, even though it clearly states so in every spec sheet I have ever read, and it says explicitly so in the manual. The email and telephone customer support is terrible - they have no idea what you are talking about when you call. The email support does not allow you to respond to answers they give you (sent from an unattended email address). Finally, if you want to use this TV to do business presentations or show slideshows from a USB camera, drive, or flash device, you CANNOT SORT THE IMAGES. The TV does not sort by name, number, date, or anything that makes logical sense.

I happen to have discovered how the sorting is done, and was able to fix the issue myself with a third-party app that runs on Windows (it's easier in Linux). However, I am not giving up the secret because Philips does not deserve this service from me. The infuriated me so badly, I will never buy another Philips product.

Otherwise, the TV has mediocre performance, poor menus, and a bad remote.

Don't listen to all of the other reviews that say good connectivity. An LCD without PC input (except HDMI)?! What?! If it had PC input I wouldn't care so much about the USB stuff, but I can't do a presentation on this without going out and buying an HDMI capable laptop. (Don't tell me about S-Video - the picture is AWFUL on this TV).
