i bought this television about a month ago. i bought a refurbished from the manufacturer for a greatly reduced cost ($1,400) but that's beside the point. the television is great for the cost even if you buy it new from Amazon -- a nice price as well. the first thing i'd do is go to AVS forums and search for this television to get the various setting codes for the picture. that'll save you a lot of time. next, get a surround sound system as the speakers on this television are barely adequate (i went with Onkyo and am happy). a universal remote is a must (Logitech Harmony is the way to go -- again, i bought a 659 refurbished here on Amazon for about $40 -- great remote).

i sit about 11 - 12 feet away and we play the Wii from about 8 feet. both seem just right. i watched the NCAA tourney in HD last week and the Master's Golf tourney this week. i notice that the standard definition channels don't look very good. in fact, i think my old television upstairs looks much better on standard definition. so i am only watching HD programming on this LCD. if i had to watch a lot of standard definition programming then i probably wouldn't have bought this television and i might have given it 3 or 4 stars instead. on the other hand, the deal was too good to pass up and HD looks just terrific.Buy Philips 52PFL7422D/37 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV!

Toshiba REGZA 26HL67 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

I purchased this TV on August 1, 2007. A year later, the TV would not always power on. The instructions advise resetting the TV by holding the on/off button down for five seconds. This generally took care of the problem. Last week, the TV would not power on at all and would not reset. Repairs to the TV are $484, over 75% of the cost of the TV. Like others who have written about this TV, the TV has a faulty power board, apparently a problem with this TV. I bought this PIECE OF GARBAGE television in February 2007 because it seemed like a good deal. The first one had to be returned because the remote didn't work NOR did the sleep timer and clock on the television. I spent 2 hours on the phone with their customer service trying to get it to work only to have the rep at SpectronIQ/PROTRON say "sorry, I cant help you". I brought it back to the store and got another one. The new one has an ok picture but AGAIN the REMOTE has some buttons that don't work. I called SpectronIQ/PROTRON customer service on February 15, 2007 and Marvin promised to send me a new remote. After waiting 2 weeks I call again and Jack says it will be sent in 5 days. Called back again and was told by Terrance it would be sent in 3 days, call back if I don't receive it and they will overnight it. I call back again and talk to the same guy named Terrance and he now says "we don't overnight anything, wait another 3 days, I guarantee it will be there". I call again and Terrance yet again says "wait 5 more days it should be there by then". Here we are March 26, 2007 and STILL NO REMOTE!!! THEY ARE a bunch of LIARS!!!! The MOST UNPROFESSIONAL MICKEY MOUSE CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I finally get thru to a manager today named William (they always tell you that there are no managers to take calls). William says call back in 2 hours and I will have an answer for you. I call back in 2 hours and GUESS WHAT of course he now says "call back in 3 weeks and we should be able to send you one by then. If we don't send one in 3 weeks call us back." When I asked for an address to write a letter they simply say just send it to our P.O. Box with no attention to any department because they are not sure who would get a letter of complaint...This company SpectronIQ was formerly known as Protron Digital Corp and I think they changed their name because they had too many complaints of poor quality. I wonder how long they will go as SpectronIQ before they go out of business! What good is getting a low price on a TV if it doesn't work right and customer service is a joke!!!! Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-73833 - 73" rear projection TV ( DLP ) - 120Hz - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV

Beware that the TV will work beautifully initially but will degrade rather quickly over time. Customer support is also not very knowledgeable.

I have an older version of this TV WD-73727 for over 2 years now and I have to hit the reset button more and more now in order to get the HD tuner to operate. Sometimes the TV would lock up unless the reset button is pressed. Sometimes the TV would not get certain channels unless the reset button is pressed. Sometimes the TV would not get any HD channels at all unless the reset button is pressed. Right now I need to do this about twice a week.

After a while this gets pretty annoying waiting for the TV to reboot. I called customer support to ask for a firmware upgrade as I suspect that it might be a firmware bug since after the reset button is pressed everything works fine. Ended up with an argument with customer support person who claims to know the TV and says that I cannot receive HD signals over the antenna which is clearly false. I never got any firmware from them.

Buy this TV at your own risk. Beautiful when it works. Annoying otherwise.

I was a bit worried about purchasing a DLP based TV as the LCDs looked sharper in the stores. But since most stores had something pretty crappy hooked up to any DLPs, I checked out the 65" version of this TV in a high-end store where they bothered to set it up right and it looked pretty good. (Still not as sharp as a LCD.)

Now that I've been using the TV for a little while, I can confirm that it provides a picture way sharper than you see in the theatre. In fact, if you don't adjust a few settings in the TV to remove film grain (adjust the sharpness and video noise controls), the film grain can be a bit annoying in some movies.

I liked this monitor enough the first time I bought it to insist on the same model, not the 2007 version, the second time I bought it. The color reproduction on the 2005 series of dell monitors, you may notice, is better than the 2007 series. Though, for truest color reproduction, you should use a CRT.

I use one of these for my Mac Mini (DVI input) and the other for my gaming rig (PC). The response time is super quick, colors are bright and crisp. The only problems I have ever run into is with the odd aspect not being readily recognized on some older versions of linux. Most current versions recognize the 1680 x 1050 pixel aspect.

You may have trouble finding these new anymore, but if you do, it's a good purchase. Also, it supports 90 degree rotation if you want to do some desktop publishing that way. After reading various reviews of under the counter TVs, this one stood out as the best screen, best TV DVD combo and would also be the thinnest. I was very pleased with the TV and the relatively easy install. It worked out very nice and I was very happy with it until the remote broke after about 18 months. That is when the problems started. COBY refuses to use a universal remote code so you cannot buy a universal replacement remote, you have to order a OEM replacement. I had no problem having to spend the extra money, however, the customer service was horrible. I called and left message. No return call. I called again and left message for specific person. NO return call. I called and complained. No return call. Finally after the fourth phone call I was able to speak with the person that told me how to send money and order a replacement remote. Very good TV very poor customer service. If I could find a comparable product elsewhere, I will not choose coby again.

JVC LT47P789 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with iPod TeleDock

I got this TV primarily because of the built in iPod dock and the good price. So far, I'm very impressed.

Picture - After hooking it up to my cable box with an HDMI cable and adjusting some of the settings, the picture is even better than I expected, even on non HD broadcasts. Blacks are black, and no blur from fast motion. The screen does a great job of reducing glare and reflections.

Sound - The sound is adequate. Has 2 speakers with an option for simulated surround sound. The sound is weak compared to a home entertainment system, but about average for a TV. There are several sound settings and can be customized.

Remote - The remote works good and is laid out pretty well. I mostly only use it to to play the ipod, since normally use the remote from the cable company.

iPod Dock - JVC is currently the only TV manufacturer that offers a built in iPod dock. The dock flips down from the front of the TV just below the screen, and gives you the ability to play music or videos from most iPod's through the TV. There is a very limited menu on the TV screen for control of the iPod. For most iPod models the TV screen menu only allows you to: Play music (alphabetically); Shuffle play music; or Play videos. You can also skip forward or back to the next song or video using the remote. More control of the iPod can be done using the TV remote to operate the menus on the iPod itself, or you can manually manipulate the menu on the ipod unit. It would be nice if the full ipod screen appeared on the TV, but it doesn't. Videos from the iPod are not very high quality, so are best viewed in a small screen mode.

I was so excited to get my new TV. Had everything setup. Set the TV to scan for all available channels. The process of removing channels was horrible. Unlike Sony where you just click add/delete in this Sharp TV you have to go through the menu and delete each channel. Hate it. Then I get to a few channels where I can see the picture perfectly, but I can't hear anything. That's strange because all the other brand TV at home can get those channels with sound perfectly even Vizio the brand I hate with its poor quality picture and a control that only works if you angle it towards the far right. What gives. Sharp is suppose to be a better brand. They need to work on their digital tuner especially the sound. I contact Sharp but have not heard back from them yet.

My family has enjoyed this television for the past two months. My wife even enjoys watching the news programs now since they are in beautiful HD.

I made my selection after doing some careful side-by-side picture comparisons at a local warehouse store. I generally prefer a matte-like screen over the shiny ones that many of the models have these days since our television screen is opposite from some bright windows and I wanted to keep reflected glare on the screen down to a minimum.

I knew that there would be situations at home in which I would not be sitting directly in front of the screen so it was important that the screen image be clear even when viewed from off to the side and I tried to duplicate such a situation when viewing the various models on display in the store. To my eyes, the JVC had the best screen image when viewed from such an angle. In terms of overall picture quality, the only one out of the displayed models from Vizio, Sony, Sharp, etc. was the one from Samsung. I chose not to purchase the Samsung model since I had a bad experience with a computer monitor manufactured by that company and was never able to speak with a live customer service representative to discuss my problem. In addition, the Samsung model had the shiny screen that I felt would reflect too much window glare.

After removing the television from the box my son and I had it up and running in a manner of minutes and were soon enjoying our Blu-ray movies. Since that day I have experienced no problems with it and have no complaints so far. The expected window light glare has not been an issue and the screen is visible even when looking at it from another room. I would not recommend this TV. I've owned it less than 4 months and the power will not turn on. The store won't take it back because it's over 90 days and VIZIO is making me pay to have it shipped out to get it fixed - (over $50 plus insurance). IF it was a 32" instead of 26" they would pay for a technician to come out -- it took e two phone calls and three hours to get a customer rep to help me out. Their customer service was poor. Pioneer PDP-5010FD 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

After shopping and reviewing flat panel T.V.'S for over a year,all roads kept leading back to Pioneer. After finally biting the bullet and taking the plunge, I chose the KURO 5010. Well the moment of truth arrived when I recieved the T.V. and and got it hooked up to an HD signal. WOW! My wife and I couldn't believe our eyes. The picture is absolutely the very best I have ever seen. The in store picture just doesn't compare.(unless you see it play blue ray) The cable guy, after hooking up the set, was blown away. He said it smoked his brand new Samsung 52" LCD. In fact I felt a little sad for him as I could see his disappointment that he may have made the wrong choice. Watching football on this thing is amazing. You can see the individual blades of grass on the field. And no motion blur at all. My only problem now is,I have the stress of probably being the default host for the Super Bowl once my football buddies see it.

Philips 42PFL5603D/27 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I have had this TV for over 6 months and I have to say that it is a very nice and solid product.

I has never failed to me, the picture is great and the sound is very good.

I have not had other HDTV before as to compare the performance, but this one is very stable. Every time I turned on it works without problems, so no complaint about it. The image setup is very friendly and easy to follow.

Some people complaint about the remote control, but is not bad or annoying at all, may be different, but comfortable. Of course, you can set your favorite channels or HDMI inputs and from there select them very fast.

I'm currently using an Samsung DVD player with upgraded image to 1080 (kind of cheating, yeah) and the image is very nice. Of course I'll try to update to a PS3 of Blu Ray in the future but at the time is very nice picture.

I have used the USB to slide show some pictures and the resolution is astonishing as it shows every details very nice. Since the pictures are family type, no problems with the order.

The Natural Motion is incredibly to me, as it provides a very smooth image, but I need to warn that to a friend of mine with the same TV, he feels dizzed with the same effects.

Sony KDL-40V4150 Bravia 40" V4150 LCD Television

I bought this TV at B&H Photo for $70 less than the S-series available at Walmart and V-series has a lot more features and capabilities than the S-series product. I am very pleased with the picture quality, sound and various features. I have watched a few fast-action movies have noticed no blurring as reported for other brands of 60Hz TV. I am also surprised that the digital out (optical) from TV connected to my audio receiver not only carries the digital sounds from DVD players, DirectV receiver, and rooftop antenna but also it appears that the analog sound from VCR is piped out of the optical digital output (I did not expect that at all). The 4-HDMI connections are more than plenty as I don't expect to use more than 3 at the most (using only two at this time). Picture quality for SD TV is fine but HD is superb. It has the capability to adjust the backlight intensity with the lighting in the room. Oh, the most pleasing thing...I have windows facing the TV (right behind me) and even with a bright sun, I don't see any glare on the screen (of course the shiny frame does have glare). It used to be a major problem with my old tube TV and I could not watch TV without my window shades drawn.

I love the TV guide feature for off-the-air channels (if picks up TV guide coded in the signal)...amazing. PAP/PIP work only if one of the inputs is cable/antenna...so, it is somewhat limited; but I have hardly used PAP/PIP in the two weeks of owning this TV.

There is one feature I wish it had: my 32" Vizio has a "panoramic screen" option for SD channels. The panoramic screen leaves the center of the picture unchanged but stretches the content away from the center to fill the screen. Sony 4150 does not have that feature.

I still cannot figure out why this TV (4150) is cheaper than 4100 even though 4150 has longer warranty (18 months as compare to 12 months). People say that 4100 and 4150 are "quite" the same except the warranty length...but I don't know what exactly are the differences (if any, apart from the warranty length).

Unfortunately, there is no description of 4150 model on the Sony website.

Overall, I am please to have spend $130 more than the the Phillips 42" TV I was seriously considering at Walmart. Sony V4150 has a lot more features and definitely far better picture and sound.Buy Sony KDL-40V4150 Bravia 40" V4150 LCD Television!

Sharp Aquos LC32GP3UW 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, White

I am extremely pleased with the overall quality of this television. While it is a bit on the pricey side for a 32", the quality of the picture (in both SD and HD) is amazing. I purchased mine refurbished, saving a few hundred dollars, but it is worth the money.

Pros:

Superior SD and HD quality picture
Wonderful viewing angles - No picture degradation
Good audio for an LCD
3 HDMI inputs (including one on the side of the unit, which is helpful for wall mounting, which I have done)
Tons of options for adjusting the picture settings
Great design

Cons:
A bit pricey for the 32" size (Some of the 1080p 32" sets are now around $750)
Power up time and input changing speed are average

It is hard to find a TV larger than 22" with a white bezel, and this is the only option out there that isn't several years old.

Bought the 19MF338B TV two weeks ago and am very satisfied with its performance. Am using it with "rabbit ears " and the digital stations are extreemly clear,and most of the set up controls easy to use. I bought this set on the picture quality alone. While it had all the useful AV inputs one would normally expect, picture is it. Best reproduction of skin tones. I hope Mitsubishi comes out with a B-ray disc-player for home theather use. One less remote! Buy it. I used a TV test disc to put the set thru it's color spectrum paces. The ability to adjust 6 colors vs 3 colors is a purist delight. Too bad the orignator's of the displayed material aren't as picky or station to station transmission quality. Ran the movie "Bridges of Madison County" DVD(My wife's favorite)a couple of times to appreciate the outstand rendition of the "film". "WALL-E" is another must see. This TV/DVD player was exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, there's a significant issue. When playing DVDs, every 15 - 20 seconds there is a brief dropout of the audio. It's very short, like 1/4 of a second, but this "click" is enough to hamper the enjoyment of the movie. I tested with several DVDs that work fine in other players.

Amazon quickly and painlessly exchanged it (thanks, Amazon!), but the replacement did the same thing. So, apparently it's a design flaw. I don't have problem with this HDTV. I still think it is a best deal with the very nice picture and sound quality. I bought it during Thanksgiving sales from Target. I hooked it up with a regular common antenna; and I did a full channel-scan by following the instructions on the manual. As long as it catches the digital signal, the picture quality and sound are great. For example, in my local area, picture and sound quality from the digital channels such as Channel 2.1 (KCBS), Channel 4.1 (KNBC), Channel 5.1 (KTLA) etc. are superb, crystal clear--I can enjoy watching the news reporter's beautiful pupil. This HDTV reaches a high quality of engineering design. For those who complained about the buzz noise, I would suggest them to check the external input to the TV, which is possibly the source of the buzz noise came from. I never experienced any buzz noise from my unit of Westinghouse HDTV. My only suggestion to Westinghouse is that they need to put a little more effort to the design of the on-screen menu. It doesn't look that fancy but it is fully functional without any problem. Thanks Westinghouse for the high quality of HDTV. You got my A rank. This television is fantastic - only problem is ....it's too good! It reveals all of the garbage signals that the hd providers are outputting! The various compression techniques, the huge breakups and distortions, out of focus imagery - All is revealed in larger than life quality on this monitor! But, that's why I got it. This TV is directly connected to an HD editorial suite for client viewing and when monitoring a fully uncompressed HD 4:2:2 image via HDMI from the edit suite it's amazing.
Bluray is great too -
Too bad HD content on cable and dish is so substandard.
