This television delivers where it really counts: picture quality. Color accuracy is as close to perfect as can be straight out of the box. Tones are not oversaturated like many LCDs and contrast is good. The A-IPS panel makes this set have the best viewing angles of any LCD on the market with absolutely no color shift and extremely minimal brightness disparity even at the most extreme angles. The black levels are great, but some of the competing sets with VA panels are better in this regard. The only real fault with this unit is the remote, and not the remote itself, but the receiver in the TV. You have to be pointing the remote directly at the IR receiver for it to function properly. Otherwise, this TV is fantastic for use as an HD media center and a computer monitor. I shopped extensively before deciding, and it came down to this and the Samsung LNA650. LG 42LG30 42-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Very impressed. My roommate recently moved out and took his 50" Samsung DLP with him. Fortunately, this TV was not only cheaper, but also MUCH higher quality than the Samsung. The entire Southern wall of our apartment is a sliding glass window, and this TV shows absolutely no glare. The viewing angle is amazing! The contrast is beautiful - I have never seen a TV that looks this sexy.

I would STRONGLY recommend this TV to anyone looking for a 42". 720p looks 100% the same as 1080p for this size TV - you'd be paying more solely for bragging rights (but anyone who knows better will be laughing at you).

My only complaint about this is the speakers. For any AV input, the speakers are plenty loud and I set the volume to 15 out of 100. However, for cable the sound is greatly diminished and I have to turn the volume up to 60 or higher. You don't want to be using a T extensively at near maximum volume because the speakers will eventually tear. I have some loud computer speakers, but unfortunately there is no Audio Out jack that size on this TV, just the red/white RCA cables jacks. No problem though, I'll just have to throw down a few bucks for a conversion cable.

Overall 5+++ stars. I bought this TV from [...] with an amazon card I simultaneously opened. Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100/S 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Silver

I searched for TVs all around Christmas time to see what TV would a) have a good price b) be the right size and c) have all of the features I want. After doing a lot of research and reading lots of reviews online (including watching Cnet videos) I decided on this TV. Now you might be wondering exactly why I decided on this TV:

1) Great size (46" is perfect! I'm glad I didn't go lower or higher because lower would have been a wee bit too small and my space wouldn't be able to handle larger)
2) 1080P! (around black friday and christmas time I read lots of things that said 1080p wasn't worth it when 720p was getting so low priced, I'm glad I trusted the things that said 1080p rocks instead ^_^)
3) 120HZ (I love action movies and knew that this was a must have feature for me)
4) Good on-board sound (I considered getting a sound system but decided against it... it would require setup and tweaking time + take up space, luckily this TV has fantastic sound~)
5) Good price range (ok, it's not the cheapest TV you can get at this size with the features I mentioned above.. but it had great reviews, people rarely had bad things to say about it, and I kept on finding myself back in front of it when I went to Fry's to view TVs)
6) Easiest to view in person - I was always planning to buy it on Amazon but since a TV is such a bit investment I wanted to find one I could also view in person. Luckily Fry's had the TV, Circuit City did (well, before they went bankrupt), and I even have a Sony store near me.
7) It looks nice - I ended up with the black model when I was originally considering the silver/chrome one (it was the only one amazon had at the time I first started looking) - it's nice and sleek, I keep my room dark so I don't see bright spots on it, and it's really easy to forget the borders are even there. My other choice had been the Samsung with the touch of red but I just couldn't stand that extra little feature - it was too distracting and sleek is much nicer.

The only thing I would ever say was a downside to this TV are the CC. Not necessarily because of how they are but just the fact that there is only one CC option - but it seems like multiple CC options might have gone away with CRTs, so no biggie. The CCs are still very legible and are easy to forget about.

One last word to the wise - regular def TV does not look great on this thing unless you tell it not to stretch it. Even if you don't stretch it (do regular 4:3 ratio) it still doesn't look fantastic but I knew when I was buying it that getting channels in HD would be an important thing to do in the future.

So really even though CC and regular def viewing are somewhat downsides this TV is so fantastic and it's so easy to forget about those two little things when watching something that I still think it deserves 5 stars.

I was so excited to get my new TV. Had everything setup. Set the TV to scan for all available channels. The process of removing channels was horrible. Unlike Sony where you just click add/delete in this Sharp TV you have to go through the menu and delete each channel. Hate it. Then I get to a few channels where I can see the picture perfectly, but I can't hear anything. That's strange because all the other brand TV at home can get those channels with sound perfectly even Vizio the brand I hate with its poor quality picture and a control that only works if you angle it towards the far right. What gives. Sharp is suppose to be a better brand. They need to work on their digital tuner especially the sound. I contact Sharp but have not heard back from them yet.

Toshiba REGZA Cinema Series 46XV545U 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

I bought this TV for $1600 at a high end store in Indy right after Christmas. I'm not a big a/v guru but I did get to compare it to a $3000 Pioneer, $2300 Samsung and a couple of others which were a
lot more expensive. This Toshiba looked as good or better than these higher priced brands. I've only used the set for HD TV via $15.00 RCA antenna, (which has worked fine) and the picture is superb. Also, this Cinema is Toshiba's flagship line so it's probably been qc'ed quite a bit. This one is replacing my CR Toshiba which I had for 10 years with no problems, except the remote giving out. Doing research, I feel Toshiba is just as good as Samsung just cheaper because they haven't established themselves yet. Samsung PN42A450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV

This review is for the Samsung HPT4264 which is this models predecessor. I can only imagine this TV is as good or better, and I could not be happier with mine! I use it to watch TV (HD & regular), play video games (PS2) and watch DVD's on an upconvert DVD player. The picture is stunning. Better than my Sharp LCD, way better than my Olevia LCD, better than the Sony plasma's I have seen, and also slightly better than the Panasonic that my friend has. For the money, I don't think you can do better. I was a Panasonic fan until I saw a friend's Samsung and was blown away by the colors, so sharp and vivid (and more so than the Panny). My next TV purchase will be a Samsung LCD which a friend has recently aquired and in 1080P and no plasma burn to worry about, it seems like the way to go, especially for video games. Incidently, I broke in my TV in as recommended, and I do play PS2 on it, and it has not displayed any permanent burn-in. But that topic is for an entirely different debate of plasma vs. LCD. I think the only way you can do better than this TV price/performance is to consider a Samsung LCD 1080p, which have come down a lot in price, but will still set you back a few hundo more than this one. After reviewing info and comments on line about this Panasonic item, I'm fully satisfied with the solid black frame and the quality of the picture. It set up without problem right out of the box. I selected eMotronics for lowest price at the time and high ratings from comments. My only concern was that I could not find a physical location/address for the company, and was hoping for closer shipping point. From UPS tracking I learned that point of origin was Miami -- my location is Oregon -- so it had a long trip, but thankfully without damage. Shipping in plain exterior carton without markings and original sealed carton inside. No markings outside for "top" "this side up" or "don't stack on side with screen" might well lead to problems -- and might well be recommended. It didn't occur to be to even look at Samsung TV's until we had a cable service man over to replace our cable box. We asked him if we were to replace our TV, what brand would he suggest. He said he felt that the Samsung line had the best picture of any he has seen. We wanted to explore his suggestion figuring he must see all brands of TV's on his service calls. So I checked out floor models at various electronic stores and found the picture seems to me sharper than the other ones in the store. I also found the price listed on Amazon was about $100.00 lest than was listed in the stores. The closest retail price occurred when Circuit City was having a going out of business sale and was please that Amazon was still lower. This 22 inch TV was a birthday present for my wife to replace and old analog one in her home office, and she just loved the sleek black design and the excellent HD picture. Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85U 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

In October, I purchased a Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85U Plasma Television from Amazon. One of the caveats about owning an HDTV is that it requires quite a bit of time to tweak picture settings in order to ensure that your TV is giving you the best possible picture. In the proceeding months, I've fiddled with the various settings, like color, contrast, brightness, and even used a THX calibration disc and blue filter glasses in order to calibrate my set for optimal viewing from all of my sources (FiOS, DVD, PS3/Blu-Ray, DVR, Xbox). Overall, I've been quite happy with my Panny.

However, in recent months, I've noticed a very disturbing and annoying trend occuring in my TV: phosphor trails. These are green or blue trails that are left behind a moving object in a high contrast scenario. It occurs, as I understand it, because plasma pixels cannot shift directly from black to white, or vice versa. They have a brief green or blue phase in between. An example of this might be a hockey game that has players with dark jerseys on a white ice background. This scenario is plagued by phosphor trails on my TV. The players leave streaks as they move across the rink. I love hockey, and this is a major issue for me. Another example might be a movie or TV show where a person with light skin is moving through a dark room. This scenario is even worse for me. Light objects on dark background leave horrible green trails and are physically taxing on my eyes. Video games often have high contrast scenarios like this, and this effect is present in many that I own.

Unfortunately, I don't have a video camera capable of accurately depicting this phenomenon. On the cheap point-n-shoot I have, the effect is far worse than it appears in person. Nevertheless, I'm very close to selling my TV, cutting my losses and getting a Samsung LN46A650 LCD. I know that I may just be trading one issue for another, as LCD's have problems of their own, but I've just about had it. Sharp LC32DV24U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player

Picture: The TV picture could be clearer/sharper, but that may be a question of signal quality. Difficult to get the color to be consistent between channels/programs. Almost have to readjust it every time you change channels. DVD picture quality depends on the DVD.
Sound: Good "surround sound" effect. Volume is adequate if you're within 15 feet. Beyond that, it fades. I plan to connect it to external speakers.
DVD Player: Excellent. The several DVD's I have played have played perfectly.

I bought this TV wanting the best I could afford. I didn't buy this at Amazon but another online vendor. Anyways I'm comparing this TV to my Sony SXRD (DLP) TV. It looks so much better maybe due to the fact that I could see the "screen door effect" on my older TV. I love the fact the speakers are optional since I already have my theater setup. The appearance of the TV is excellent, very beautiful to look at first hand. Once setup at the house, it looks so good. The tv has a great hd picture, good sound, and is easy to use. Only disappointment is the sd picture. Some sd channels are very grainy. The sd is worse on this tv than my regular tube tv. Not sure whether it is a problem with the quality of the satellite signal or the tv itself. Coby TFDVD1993 19-Inch LCD TV with Built In DVD Player

I was searching for two TVs but didn't want to spend too much on them since they would be for my kids rooms and would have a slightly higher chance of being broken. I didn't want to skimp on the quality though so I searched all over to find the perfect TV for them and ended up deciding on this one. We have had them for a few weeks now and have not had any problems at all.

The only complaints that I could give on it are these:

1. The remote has a mind of it's own and sometimes it won't want to work. I thought maybe we were too far away, but I can be right in front of it at times and it still won't acknowledge it. I have noticed that this isn't an issue with my daughter's though, so maybe my son's was a fluke.

2. The internal antenna isn't that strong. If you are depending on it for reception, don't...you'll have to get an external antenna.

Panasonic TC-26LX85 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

I'm really impressed - I looked at so many TVs but kept coming back to this one --boy, am I glad I did. It's a keeper - gorgeous picture, strong tuner, excellent sound, easy to use remote control, lots of ports, works nicely with my panasonic DVD-recorder through the viera link. I am delighted with it. I was concerned that the 32 inch model might be a little too big for the space I had, so I got the 26 and I think I made the right choice. For close-up viewing about 4 - 6 ft away, it's the perfect size. You don't see the artifacts or dot pattern at all. People made some comments about it not having a swivel base, but it's so light, it's very easy to turn if you need to, and the wide viewing angle is excellent, so for the most part, there's really no need to do that. Set up was intuitive and it took less than 10 minutes to be up and running. The QAM tuner is picking up a lot of extra channels I didn't expect. I'm not using a set top box, just a direct cable to tv (also tried Over the Air via antenna - very nice!) The most impressive thing to me is the black level - it has a really a wonderful contrast without screen glare (* the plastic bezel around the screen can show a reflection, if you have a lamp on, but the screen does not). EXcellent picture -- the blacks are so deep, but there is still detail in the shadows. My main quibble with the viewing experience is the inconsistent quality of the cable feed on various channels, but that is NOT a problem with the tv itself.In fact, I've been very impressed that the standard quality holds up as well as it does on this TV - the high def is amazing, but not all programs are broadcast that way. My advice - don't worry about 720 vs 1080p - you're really not missing anything at this scale, unless you're planning to use it as a computer monitor, which I dont recommend. If I were searching for negatives (which I'm not) I'd say the uncorrected yellow tends to have an ever-so-slight greenish tinge, and the color controls to alleviate that shift are limited. Reds tend to be a little saturated out of the box, but that intensity can be tamed easily. And finally, the SD card processing for a slideshow seems a little slow ( but my card had 10 MB images in it vs smaller jpgs, so that may be the reason for the sluggish display). I'm not buying a tv for slideshows, I'm buying it for tv ... and for that purpose, it is a fabulous choice. I'm sorry that Panasonic discontinued this model - it's getting hard to find... Sony Bravia L-Series KDL-32L4000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

For the first 6 months we couldn't have been happier with this set. Suddenly one day last week something went very wrong with the picture, cloudy vertical lines, picture bouncing around, totally unacceptable. We understand that these things happen and called Sony for repair. To our surprise it's been a very bad situation dealing with Sony's customer service. Sony has become one of those companies that will bounce your call all over the world. We called for a replacement set 3 days ago (which took forever I might add) and I called today to find out when our replacement would ship. Let me also add that we were told our replacement set will not be new, it will be a refurbished set. When I placed the second call to find out when the refurbished replacement set would ship, I experienced multiple transfers and multiple holds - you probably know the game. I found some satisfaction when I was finally trasferred (maybe my 4th transfer?)to the computer repair center in San Diego, CA - who still couldn't provide me with a shipping date or a tracking number. I was told to call back to San Diego - to the computer repair dept.- for that later today. We'll see. I need to add that the customer service dept.in San Diego were very kind and professional and told me that they would indeed send me a new set. Still, I would advise anyone looking at this set to consider the quality of customer service you're expecting should something go wrong in the future. Perfect Bedroom TV. I had a 40 inch Samsung LN40A650 that cost 1199. It was awesome but too big. This LG was a little smaller yet I paid 797 including shipping from Amazon's Warehouse Deals, Inc. It came with a manual, remote, and all the other stuff a new TV comes with. Even the stickers on the TV itself and they were easy to remove. So I lost 3 inches but put over 400 dollars in my pocket and still get the 120HZ 1080p LCD with 4 HDMI inputs and 50,000 : 1 Contrast. Also, this has a matte finish so if you open windows in your room or have the light on the glare is minimum to none. The picture quality is real good, the Samsung is a little bit better, but for bedroom viewing it's no problem. If the remote had backlight I would rank it 5 stars. This is an amazing TV. The quality of the picture is phenomenal. It is not a 120hz (as those larger than 32" are in the lg70 series) and they to not claim it to be (I check LG's site) but it still gives 24p performance. You can stand up very close and the clarity is there. I do not use the built-in speaker as all my sound runs straight to the Sony receiver so I can't talk about that aspect. The white Toshiba 22LV506 22-inch 720p LCD HDTV with built in DVD Player has proved to be just what we wanted for our light colored bedroom. A knowledgeble young man installed the wall mount in a short time and the TV was playing within a few hours of being unpacked from the box. The set arrived on time, but with a few minor dings in the rugged cardboard box. However, the set seems to be working beautifully, with a great picture and good audio. The relative lightness of an LCD flat panel TV enabled us to mount it on a wall with relative ease. The built-in DVD player was a particular attraction, as it does allow a relatively compact installation with a minimum of wires.

I still am working to understand the ins and outs of this set and what it will do, so this review is not as complete as I would like. However, I am quite satisfied with this set, and hope that it will give me many years of service. Samsung PN58A650 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with RED Touch of Color

We received our Samsung pn58a650 plasma tv 4 weeks ago. Have not experienced any problems so far and have been quite satisfied with its performance. The h-d channels delivered by Comcast cable service are outstanding although the std definition side of the tv is a little grainy. At times the stretch function does distort the image on std definition but nothing too drastic. Overall this tv has the best picture quality I have ever seen especially for a tv this size. Have not experienced any issues with glare even though it is mounted in very bright room.

Panasonic Viera TC-37LZ85 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

This 37" HDTV (LCD) was very easy to set up and test. Only problem is that the remote control and several key buttons that were problematic. Several keys only work intermittently and some not at all. Panasonic Tech Support was quite helpful, though, and walked me through diagnosing the problems, and even taught me a few things about the remote that aren't in the user manual. He gave me directions on how to ask for a replacement remote and open a case # for this problem. And I even got a follow-up email on this Case. I think the LG brand is one of the best. It's a great tv, great picture and with a great price. This set is a bit small, but man, is it a looker. It features a built-in HD tuner for digital OTA reception, HDMI & Component connectors for hi-def media players, as well as an SVGA hookup to perform as a computer monitor. The speakers sound a bit "tinny" as could be expected, but the volume can get up fairly loud.

And hard to tell from the pics here, but its cabinet and screen have a nice looking glossy finish. The only downside is that is does have a somewhat narrow viewing range (though it has a tilting base). I think you should be able to get this TV in the used range for about $899 to $950. I bought this very TV at Cowboy Maloney's in Jackson, Mississippi.

I have done extensive research for a 6 month period. For the size of the TV and the brand name, it was an incredible bargain! The sound quality is pretty good considering it is a flat-panel and most flat panels usually require for you to set up a surround sound package!

I bought it "off-shelf" display model, salesman gave it to me for $950, tax an all was $1015. So if you can buy it off here for $1,000 with free shipping that is a steal!

I seriously suggest that you upgrade your cable/satellite service to high-def and run everything with HDMI cable's. There are three ports so that covers your DVD, Cable box, and PS3/Xbox 360 gaming system! Has your PC port as well.

Wal-Mart is selling the TV for $1250 and will not come down on the price, unless you have an advertisement!

I bought a big screen with a PIP that would not show my DirectTV. I use the ViewSonic as a PUP (Picture Under Picture) so it's just used a few minutes each day. It does OK. I do not have HD.
My only gripe is the menu that takes up 75% of the picture while you are trying to adjust the picture. You can adjust transparency but the purple fog never goes away. How can I adjust the tint to get proper flesh tones when the menu obscures the faces behind a purple screen? Answer-Guess at it, turn the menu off and repeat. Next time just put a little slider adjustment across the bottom, get rid of the huge screen blocker. I purchesed this 63" Plasma on Jan 16th, and by Feb 24th the "Y SUS" board went out on it leaving a black 4" wide 15" long line coming from the top of the screen, approximately 5" from the right side of the screen. At 5 weeks old you dont expect that kind of thing to happen, not on this caliper of TV. Amazon was great and told me they would issue a full refund and send someone to pick up the TV or send me a new one rite away. I chose this TV because most reviewers, including Consumer Reports, rated the Sony Bravia's picture quality very highly, although they criticized the set's ease of use. I have owned one for a month, and set it up originally before the transition to digital TV, so I had to rescan after Feb. 18th. I really had no difficulty doing either. Reception is good even with the old rabbit ears that I'm using, and I am extremely pleased with the picture quality. A pretty good state of the art television.
The sound seems ok to me. There were no stickers on the face of the screen on the set that I received.
Negatives: picture seems a bit "soft" at times--likely due to the quality of the input signal. Viewing from a side angle is poor.
My, how much space this thin set technology gives you back on the night stand compared to the old CRT televisions.

The television has a beautiful picture. However, in the Rockville, MD area the tuner does not recognize Comcast digital HD channels 4.1 (NBC) and 9.1 (CBS)and SD channels 4.2, 4.3 and 9.2. These are not in the list of available channels when the show/hide list is displayed. Sony sent a technician to replace the tuner, but the problem was not corrected. Sony has not provided a solution.
